THE PROJECT

A NEW HIGHWAY BETWEEN THE HYDRO LINE AND THE RAIL LINE

Bot is the general contractor on the Highway 17 upgrade at Rainbow Falls Provincial Park. The work reroutes the highway between a hydro corridor and the CPKC rail tracks. It covers grading, drainage, new culverts, granular base, paving and structural work, plus a new entrance road and parking area for the park.

It is a big, busy site in rugged country. Most of what makes it impressive, from the length of the new alignment to the precast arch rising over the creek, is hard to see from the ground and harder to explain in a brochure.

HOW WE APPROACHED IT

BOOTS ON THE GROUND, CAMERAS IN THE AIR

We spent time on site with the crews and filmed the work as it happened. We followed the site's safety rules on every shoot and planned each setup around the lifts, not the other way around.

SCALE FROM ABOVE

Drone passes show the full alignment, the rail line and the lake in one frame.

EVERY LIFT ON RECORD

Crane picks and arch segments were filmed from start to set.

REAL CREWS

Operators, flaggers and labourers on camera, doing their actual jobs.

TIGHT FRAMES, SAFE DISTANCE

Long lenses kept us close to the action and clear of the work zone.

SCORED FROM SCRATCH

Original songs written for Bot, so the film has a sound of its own.

ONE CONSISTENT LOOK

Every clip and still colour-corrected to match across the whole project.
